The Antigua-flagged arms ship Francop commandeered by the Israeli Navy early Wednesday, Nov. 4, near Cyprus, carried 300 containers, in 40 of which hundreds of tons of Iranian arms for Hizballah were hidden, said Israeli Navy commander Brig.-Gen Ronnie Ben-Yehuda in a news briefing Wednesday, Nov 3. Most of it was ammo, grenades, 122-km Katyusha rockets, mortar shells and anti-tank missiles, enough to keep Hizballah fighting for a month or more.

Israel's military intelligence chief Brig. Amos Yadlin revealed Tuesday, Nov. 3, that the Palestinian Hamas had successfully tested a new 60-km range Iranian shore-to-sea missile firing it west from the Gaza coast. When fired north overland the missile could reach Tel Aviv.

Brig. Yadlin's report to the Knesset foreign affairs and security committee confirmed DEBKAfile's Oct. 25 disclosure of intensive Iranian efforts to arm Hizballan and Hamas with extended-range missiles and rockets capable of reaching Israel's strategic heartland. He revealed that Iranian arms were reaching Hizballah and Hamas through Syria and, for the first, time via Turkey.

Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri may only wind up with less than 5 years behind bars

Eight years 4 months.  That's the sentence a federal judge handed down to a man called a "sleeper agent" for Al Qaeda.

Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri could have gotten 15 years in prison on a charge of "conspiracy to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization".  U.S. District Court Judge Michael Mihm decided to give credit for the 71 months al-Marri spent in a Navy brig, and time held as a material witness.  In addition, Mihm credited him with 9 more months, to make up for the harsh treatment of al-Marri while he was in custody.

If the US prison system also gives him credit for the time held before and after the brig, defense attorneys say he may only wind up with less than 5 years behind bars.
